1 Peter 1:5 “….. who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
Thayers Greek Definitions says that the word “kept” means “to guard, protect by a military guard, either to prevent hostile invasion, or to keep the inhabitants of a besieged city from flight”.
It is interesting to also note that it is the “power of God” that keeps us. That is the same power that spun the planets into orbit and raised Jesus from the dead. It is power beyond our understanding of power. It is more than “strength” and more than “might”. It is power that is a special power that belongs only to God. God’s power. That is the power that keeps you from being invaded by the enemy. It is that power that keeps you from fleeing because of the approaching army. Praise God that it is not by our power but his!
